National Education Policy 2020 aims at making India Self-Reliant: Modi

President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the inaugural session of Governors’ Conference on National Education Policy. Governors and Lieutenant governors of various states, Union Territories, and Vice-Chancellors of all the state universities also attended the conference. Modi said education policy and education system are essential means of fulfilling the aspirations of the country. President Kovind said that the approach would help make Indian students global citizens.

“Earlier, students used to select a stream beyond their aptitude, which they would realize much later. National Education Policy addresses such problems. With vocational exposure right from an early age, our youth will get better prepared for life”, Modi put his opinion forward.

“This is not the government’s education policy; it is the country’s education policy. Like foreign policy, defense policy is of a country; this is the nation’s education policy,” said Modi.

Modi also said that there was an all-round acceptance of the policy. He appreciated that there was a healthy debate on the system. He said that the policy aimed at making India Self-Reliant or Aatm-Nirbhar.
