Defense Institute of Advanced Technology, a deemed to be university in Pune has developed a herbal-based room freshener product named Healthy Air. This room freshener boosts immunity and counteracts the spread of COVID-19.
The Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering has developed Healthy Air with various herbal extracts oils like Neem, Neelgiri, Camphor, Daalcheeni, Tulsi, Lemon, and more. It consists of a blended solution of these oils and instinctively acts as an immunity booster. The product exhibits anti-cancerous, anti-microbial, antiviral, and antifungal properties. It is a non-carcinogenic, non-toxic, non-mutagenic product and purifies the air, making it breathable.
Unlike commercial room fresheners, Healthy Air results in removing the toxic fumes, cleansing the air. It does not contain any synthetic adsorbents, surfactants, disinfectants, or chemicals in the primary formulation. Moreover, it possesses the stress and anxiety-reducing capabilities upon breathing and helps in treating respiratory illness. Given the blend of herbal extracts, the developed product acts as a natural insecticide, with no toxicity for the human body, and acts as a room freshener.
We can use Healthy Air in rooms, conference halls, public places, hospitals, malls, cinema halls, waiting lounges/rooms at airports/railway stations. It is packed in a container with wick and will also load in a dispenser.
The aerodynamic state-of-the-art laser-based visualization lab has also experimented with Healthy Air for comprehending the velocity field, formation of primary aerosol particles, aerosol breakdown thresholds as a function of particle size, and particle density. It resulted that there was no noticeable formation of secondary particles, which could result in low dispersion of primary particles.
This technology transfer is freely available for Indian technology start-ups and companies in its fight against the current pandemic situation.
